Welcome

On behalf of the Murch Home and School Association (HSA), we extend a warm welcome to students, faculty, administrators, staff, parents and guardians returning for the 2011-2012 academic year at Murch. And to the families, teachers and staff just joining our Murch community we offer an especially heartfelt greeting. This year Murch has a new principal, Mr. Chris Cebrzynski, and we welcome and look forward to working with him to ensure the success of every student at Murch.

The goal of the HSA is to harness the fundraising and volunteering power of our community to enhance the superior learning environment Murch offers every student. We are indebted to past leaders at all levels who have bequeathed a tradition of ambitious organization and achievement to the HSA, and wish to thank Alison Howard and Karin Perkins for their steadfast leadership as co-presidents over the past two years. We are grateful that traditional HSA fundraisers -- and fun-raisers! --  like Coffee on the Playground, the Fall Fair and the Murch Auction are big hits and anticipated by our community as highlights every year.

At Murch, we value above all the vital contribution teachers make in the classroom, and our organization is geared toward their support and assistance. Every year the HSA hires additional instructional and lunchtime aides to help teachers accomplish all they need to do for our kids. We call this effort “Support Our School” or “SOS,” and it is the main fundraiser all year that warrants generous support from every Murch family. Be on the lookout for your opportunity to show your support soon after school starts August 22.

Teachers at Murch deserve our sincere thanks, so on behalf of all of us the HSA will sponsor the year’s first Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on August 19 at noon.

We have so much to look forward to this year and we can accomplish what we set out to do by staying connected. If each family with a child at Murch will provide or update their contact information as soon as possible, then the Murch Directory can be a complete and useful tool bringing us together. And this year the redesigned www.murchschool.org is an even better site, where everyone can go for information about our community.

Thank you to everyone who, through the HSA, has helped to make our school an environment of educational excellence. When each of us does our part we improve our school, and by working together we can make a significant contribution to the education of our children.

Sincerely,

Gavin Macgregor-Skinner & Stewart Robertson
